Enhancing Clinical Safety Through Comprehensive BLS Training

On 14th July 2026, Parkview Dental Team completed comprehensive Basic Life Support (BLS) training as part of our ongoing commitment to providing safe, high-quality dental care. Every member of our practice, including both clinical and non-clinical staff, took part in the training to ensure we are fully prepared to respond quickly and effectively in the event of a medical emergency.

Patient safety is at the heart of everything we do. Regular BLS training helps ensure our team has the confidence, knowledge and practical skills needed to provide immediate assistance should an emergency arise.

Why Basic Life Support (BLS) Training is Essential in Dentistry

Although medical emergencies in dental practices are uncommon, they can occur unexpectedly. Whether a patient experiences a medical episode during treatment or requires urgent assistance, having a well-trained team can make a significant difference.

Basic Life Support training equips dental professionals with the skills to:

• Recognise the early signs of a medical emergency.
• Perform effective Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
• Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely and confidently.
• Respond quickly to airway obstruction and choking incidents.
• Work together efficiently during emergencies.

Regular emergency training ensures our team remains up to date with current best practices and is prepared to act calmly and confidently when every second counts.

What Our BLS Training Covered

The training combined classroom learning with practical, hands-on exercises to reinforce essential life-saving techniques. Key topics included:

• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Safe use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)
• Managing choking and airway obstruction
• Recognising common medical emergencies in a dental setting
• Effective communication and teamwork during emergency situations

Through realistic scenarios, every team member had the opportunity to practise these vital skills in a controlled environment, helping build confidence and readiness.
